<br /></div>
<div>
You should probably head over to this cool new site called <a href="http://www.thebethnextdoor.com/" target="_blank">The Beth Next Door</a>. Cause that's my new blog. And it's live a day early.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
We'll be working to point this site to the new site as well as archiving my past posts. But otherwise, I'm essentially done at BethietheBoo.com. It has served me well, but it is time for a fresh new change. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
My social media handles have changed as well, but if you're already following me I just updated my existing accounts. In case you're wondering though, @bethietheboo has changed to @TheBethMn on Instagram and Twitter. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I can't thank you all enough for the support and I hope you'll follow along with me at the new site. See you there!</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
We're setting sail for this week's Thrift Style Thursday and going nautical! This theme comes to us from Brittany of The B Life. I originally thought I'd be going more for a dress or for my sailboat top, but then decided a casual low key approach was more what "floated my boat" today - oh puns!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjRp0l2sUmP_OLzG56aoetUUTxAkLhLC1o7s-eFdv7YR-DDIuXYg7GWcWPq_ZvDH2ucgBPWnGQmYq-LcnL5GALwIuauwaIdJE4j3qusEAuq3AyDSlNwTfAHNYWJ_cB70U52VUM6ny3E-jV9/s1600/nautical1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjRp0l2sUmP_OLzG56aoetUUTxAkLhLC1o7s-eFdv7YR-DDIuXYg7GWcWPq_ZvDH2ucgBPWnGQmYq-LcnL5GALwIuauwaIdJE4j3qusEAuq3AyDSlNwTfAHNYWJ_cB70U52VUM6ny3E-jV9/s1600/nautical1.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
I thrifted this shirt back this spring and I'm actually surprised at how much use I've gotten out of it so far. I kind of bought it figuring I'd wear it on the 4th of July because it feels a bit patriotic, but I've actually worn it several other times as well. I thought the stripes felt nautical in addition to patriotic, so I thought it would work well today, especially after I paired it with my white jeans. It gets chilly on boat rides sometimes, so I likely would wear something like this if I actually was going boating!<br />

No boat rides in the near future, after Oliver's disastrous first boat ride in Itasca I haven't really felt the desire to try it again anytime soon. Maybe a date night with Nate though, you never know!</center>

Be sure to check out the other Thrift Style Thursday gals to see what nautical notions they pulled together and don't forget new member <a href="http://nouveaunorthwesterners.com/" target="_blank">Alison</a>.</center>

This has become my favorite of all the MN Beer festivals. I'm not sure if it's the fact that we're getting away for a weekend or the summer vibe or the fact that it's in one of my favorite cities in the state or what it is, but it is just my favorite of all the beer festivals.<br />
<br />
We drove up on Saturday and just spent one night, next year I might be tempted to have us go up on Friday so we can have a little extra time in Duluth, but it worked well for this year to just go one night again. We dropped off Ollie in the morning with Nate's parents and made it to Duluth by around 2:00. The festival started at 3:00, so we had just enough time to drop off our things at the hotel and then walk over to the park.<br />
<br />
The gates opened and the bagpipers lead us inside the park. I seriously love that every beer festival starts with bagpipes! We stopped at the Surly Brewing Company tent first, we knew from past experience that their lines would get long and they would likely run out of some of the special kegs they brought, so early would be better than later. We tried their Nein, which is their ninth anniversary beer.<br />
<br />

Happy to be out and about together </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
We hit up a few other places, ran into a few people we knew from the Cities and then decided we needed a little food to go with our brews, so we grabbed a hotdog from my favorite food truck of all time, Natedogs. We also grabbed some water (it was pretty warm, even for Duluth and our rule was one bottle of water per hour so we wouldn't get heatsick) and parked on a hill in the shade for a bit.</div>

Best hotdog ever!</div>
<br />
It's so fun to people watch at these events! It was such a beautiful day. It was pretty warm, but the breeze off Lake Superior really helped a lot. The backdrop of the iconic Lift Bridge in the background was pretty neat too!<br />

<div style="text-align: center;">
Of course I made Nate take a bunch of selfies with me. He's a good sport. </div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
Outside of the Bent Paddle tent (they are local to Duluth) they had cute whiskey barrel tables and stools to sit on so we stopped there for a bit. I thought this was so cute - barley in a beer can. I might have to duplicate that for our Oktoberfest party this year!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
Another selfie while Nate was in line getting something. I wanted to show off my hat. I remembered it was very sunny with not much for shade last year so I decided a hat was very necessary!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhNSTQt8-pqzEWsGaIfuzRG4D4dQ8DPfJ0qMdhgM3SRgzKzb9JeyzQoyvDW4Iju4LqQxTPFinlYfhng0S_eW9GnGJu8pRWmAfe3ZKujd_jGHXkbjDXcMfsPfXKoYqLgh7DocFiITbUO_-5C/s640/blogger-image-74635672.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhNSTQt8-pqzEWsGaIfuzRG4D4dQ8DPfJ0qMdhgM3SRgzKzb9JeyzQoyvDW4Iju4LqQxTPFinlYfhng0S_eW9GnGJu8pRWmAfe3ZKujd_jGHXkbjDXcMfsPfXKoYqLgh7DocFiITbUO_-5C/s640/blogger-image-74635672.jpg" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Bent Paddle also had a giant Jenga game, so we decided to play for a bit. Nate was the victor, but it was a very close game. We had the tower almost taller than both of us for a time! </div>
<div>

Pretty soon it was 7:00 and the party was over! It goes by so fast. We made sure we paced ourselves well, we shared everything and as I mentioned, we made sure to drink plenty of water too. We stopped by the merchandise tent to pick up a shirt I liked, we each grabbed one final beer taste and then we started our walk back to the hotel. </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
We grabbed breakfast on Sunday morning at a restaurant not too far from the hotel, then drove about twenty minutes north of Duluth real quick to stop at a smokehouse we love to get some smoked fish to bring home with us. Then we drove back home to the Cities and were reunited with our boy. We really had a great time though. I absolutely love this festival and plan to return again and and again. I'm already excited for next year!</div>

I'm back after a little three day weekend. I can't wait to share more about the All Pints North beer festival, I'll be posting more about that tomorrow. Today I am excited to announce a super fun Instagram challenge for August that I am co-hosting with the lovely Shea of Shea Lennon! Shea had been talking about wanting to do a collaboration with someone and I said I'd be interested. We chatted and decided an Instagram challenge would be lots of fun. For the month of August we're going to celebrate summer with our Soak Up the Summer Challenge!<div>
<br /></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
We'd love to have any and everyone play along! We'll be using the hashtag #SoakUpSummer. Follow along with us, I'm still @bethietheboo for now, that's changing soon but I'll be sure to let everyone know! Shea is on Instagram at @shealennon. We both enjoy style challenges a great deal and we're so excited to be hosting our own! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
In July I followed the #JulyPinnedItSpinnedIt challenge and a couple of others including #WearWhatWhere and #JulyBeStyled. I made a collage of a few of my favorite looks below.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Lots and lots of color this month, that's for sure! I really love using these Instagram challenges to help re-mix my wardrobe and to share outfits of the day. In addition to my own challenge in August I'll be following along with a Jewelry Instagram challenge too, I'm quite excited about that, I need to be better about using more of my jewelry - I tend to do a lot of repeats lately!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
August will be a pretty fun month I think! Stay tuned and I hope to see some posts from some of you on the Soak Up the Summer Instagram challenge!</div>

Here are some more of our goodies as of late with our CSA veggies! I've been so spoiled this summer!<br />
<br />
Ecuadorian style lamb chop with vitamin greens, rice and egg. Nate took the vitamin greens and mixed them up with tomato and spices so it turned into a nice side dish that he describes as kind of a Mexican "stew". He cooked the lamb on a cast iron skillet with just some oil and salt and pepper. And then the rice was simple and we put an egg on top of it again as that is frequently done in Ecuadorian cooking.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgnMpe_qCwEN54auut9ohOjnMMtTYnaxsXqGUR0RTUC2XlMsbhVmLKvVwOmTON-DInfx40K_nM6Giv3xhSY_J7CckXr1TdRyk56Uhxs0-UjDyb2nC4_ackxuSddvE5SNeiYdAXziTBBbmU8/s640/blogger-image--736151113.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgnMpe_qCwEN54auut9ohOjnMMtTYnaxsXqGUR0RTUC2XlMsbhVmLKvVwOmTON-DInfx40K_nM6Giv3xhSY_J7CckXr1TdRyk56Uhxs0-UjDyb2nC4_ackxuSddvE5SNeiYdAXziTBBbmU8/s640/blogger-image--736151113.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
Chicken fried steak with grilled cauliflower, carrot and fennel. This one was pretty easy. We got the chicken fried steak from an Omaha Steaks pack we recently ordered (got a really good deal in the mail and took advantage). Nate whipped up a pretty simple white gravy. He tossed the veggies with some olive oil, salt/pepper and a few Indian type spices and then grilled them until they came to a nice crispy perfection. SO yummy. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEip-2xBphk7YtsJZhmA0VXIEb3tXreNAe6yqaSymkwWIunuv_lbASXhyphenhyphen7FH7veeoaN0G1A0A-9-oqeETG9j9rkKvtsRfyIMqLQPZ5_WhFjl5R6wNduYBgluNjbGjZ4XGPy_ZSmugL97bZh7/s640/blogger-image--1954735224.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEip-2xBphk7YtsJZhmA0VXIEb3tXreNAe6yqaSymkwWIunuv_lbASXhyphenhyphen7FH7veeoaN0G1A0A-9-oqeETG9j9rkKvtsRfyIMqLQPZ5_WhFjl5R6wNduYBgluNjbGjZ4XGPy_ZSmugL97bZh7/s640/blogger-image--1954735224.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
Stir Fry! This was pretty basic, but so yummy. We took some sirloin and stir fried it with broccoli, summer squash, zucchini, green pepper and mushrooms and put that on top of some rice noodles. It was pretty much perfection. When all else fails and we don't know what else to do with our veggies for the week we stir fry them!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgE3tgkqZMYNmYO9fGTC6d59c2mmk1HSZuwH1cAj8n__FsaeCaLTEDNdjsRbU4x2ZF5BHKqAvvIWxIGumiLCU6_CepcDqtov4bZAhHlKQ0le57eTqXnVaDuVL2nrJI_JQodo2EMWPYB1tdM/s640/blogger-image--318707614.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgE3tgkqZMYNmYO9fGTC6d59c2mmk1HSZuwH1cAj8n__FsaeCaLTEDNdjsRbU4x2ZF5BHKqAvvIWxIGumiLCU6_CepcDqtov4bZAhHlKQ0le57eTqXnVaDuVL2nrJI_JQodo2EMWPYB1tdM/s640/blogger-image--318707614.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
This next one is another of my favorites. It's a homemade chicken and basil ravioli we make. We make the dough from scratch and then fill it with chicken, ricotta cheese (which also came from our CSA!) and basil. Then we boil it up and when it's done we toss it with a light sauce made of olive oil, lemon zest and more basil. It is sooooo good. Nice light meal in the summer too.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhBoqkJ1M7S55dmjMOer0pwaQwjkmwrCHvR1V33W5AzLbZPv8YOYfJZPDtQNdO8YXNyCvTIzJdVgQa13om2r3_0UhZ3Geq58FwzKKpmRUqEV8pC3TIjzxnCw0-E2KSQTM2_tGHufU0z2EAW/s640/blogger-image--715949178.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhBoqkJ1M7S55dmjMOer0pwaQwjkmwrCHvR1V33W5AzLbZPv8YOYfJZPDtQNdO8YXNyCvTIzJdVgQa13om2r3_0UhZ3Geq58FwzKKpmRUqEV8pC3TIjzxnCw0-E2KSQTM2_tGHufU0z2EAW/s640/blogger-image--715949178.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
And this last one is cheating, no prep required other than washing it. Sugar snap peas. We only got them once this year and I'm still sad they're gone. These made a fantastic snack one afternoon while Nate was brewing beer. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjgW9zfKjs83X7tmAuvKx27egi25p_D-DnHY7T0YlaX4NDvS-5stoQGWOAt2PGDFk3njcj0n0vsiJVlHYvHNK-rdICmfN1MM08IW-II6RJ75DYY05d4Qww-79BMOaYgxxj_ZPjuvUz_hcQm/s640/blogger-image--233827940.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjgW9zfKjs83X7tmAuvKx27egi25p_D-DnHY7T0YlaX4NDvS-5stoQGWOAt2PGDFk3njcj0n0vsiJVlHYvHNK-rdICmfN1MM08IW-II6RJ75DYY05d4Qww-79BMOaYgxxj_ZPjuvUz_hcQm/s640/blogger-image--233827940.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So we are making the most of our veggies. We have a ton of cabbage on hand right now and can only make so much coleslaw, so Nate's going to attempt making his own sauerkraut. We have some green beans and I think we just might make green bean casserole for the summer because why not? I just love CSA season!! I'm not the main chef on these items, but if you want more specific recipe information just let me know and I'll be happy to email more details to anyone!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Have a great weekend! We're Duluth bound for All Pints North and I can't wait! I'll be sure to share all about it next week!</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Time for another Thrift Style Thursday post! Carissa of Carissa Knits chose today's theme - polka dots! Girl after my own heart, I do love to rock some polka dots! I was mildly worried I wouldn't come up with something for today though, while I have many dotted goodies in my closet, much of them are either A. for winter or B. not thrifted. I remembered this skirt though and then thought, hey, I bet that polka dot blouse I have would look cute with it too. So I'm mixing up a bunch of dots today!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
I attempted to add the belt to try and break up the top and bottom a bit and while I like it, it's clearly the wrong size belt for me. I will have to be looking for a new one! Otherwise I like how this came together, kind of has a retro feel and that's kind of fun! It's definitely girly and flirty.<br />

And now all of this talk of dots is making me think of Pee Wee Herman singing "Connect the Dots" on Pee Wee's Playhouse. I could wax nostalgic for hours about that show, so I'll just stop now, but I bet other 80's kids have that song in their heads now too. My apologies!</center>

I kid, but I have been picking posts that have been pretty mindless to write, which is nice, my brain just needs a break. So today I'm linking up with the Let Your Blog Shine prompt of "Shows I'm addicted to." <div>
<br /></div>
<div>
We actually don't watch that much TV overall, especially in the summer, but some nights it is nice to unwind with something and sometimes we just enjoy binge watching our favorites. Today I thought I'd discuss my tried and true faves, the shows I'll watch again and again and why I love them. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Friends - So I've been a fan of Friends from the very beginning. I was probably too young to even really be watching when it was first on the air, I think I was in 7th grade when the first season aired. But I watched anyway and while some of the jokes I appreciated much more as I watched in re-runs later, I've just always loved it. It has the right amount of humor and heart. There is something relatable in each character. And I think while they were a good 15 years older than me, I could relate to them sort of coming of age from their twenties to their thirties while I was coming of age from my teens to my twenties. I still cry when I watch the finale. I live my life in "Friend-isms." I'll just always love this show!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia - Everything about this show is so wrong it's right. It's actually the anti-Friends in a way. There isn't a single likable thing about any of the characters and yet, I just love the show. The scenarios seem almost unbelievable at times. So I just can't say why I love it and yet I can watch it again and again because while all the things I said are true, it just makes me laugh so much. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Corner Gas - I've talked about this cute Canadian show before. It's clean, wholesome and light hearted and we just love it so much. We own the entire series on DVD. It takes place in a small town and has that small town charm about it. Sometimes we just need some basic fluff. We pretty much watch this series beginning to end about once a year.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Snuff Box - This was a British show that ran for one season only and many British seasons are only six episodes long, so there aren't many episodes of this show. It's kind of a sketch comedy starring Matt Berry (who plays the boss on The IT Crowd if any of you have ever seen that show) and American actor Rich Fulcher. They work as hangmen and much of the series is about the time they spend in this club where the hangmen get to relax and unwind. Rich is kind of a doof and Matt is pretty much a jerk, but the little sketches interspersed with the main storylines are pretty funny. And we like dark comedy so we just love this show and pretty much quote it all the time at our house. And being that it's British, it is a bit crude at times too, but we don't mind that much! We watch this pretty much once a year too.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Black Books - Another British show that is hilarious, it takes place in a book store run by a guy that's pretty much kind of a sloppy drunk and the mis-adventures he has with his employee and female friend who runs a shop next door. My favorite episode is when Bernard the owner and Manny, his employee, decide they're going to write a children's book because there are no good children's books and they end up getting drunk (happens a lot on this show!) and write a book called The Elephant and the Balloon. It's just classic.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Dead Like Me - Fantastic show that was only a couple of seasons long but so well done. I believe it was a Showtime show or maybe HBO when it first ran. The main character is killed by a toilet seat falling from an airplane (it's another dark comedy) and she ends up becoming a grim reaper. She becomes part of a family of grim reapers and has to deal with her life in the afterlife while still on Earth where she lived her previous life. I don't know how else to explain this one, but it's just a great show, definitely a little bit darker, but actually has a lot of humor and heart too.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Psych - LOVE, love, love this show. I'm not usually much for police/crime type shows, but when Nate got me into this show he hooked me by saying there were a lot of 80's references because of flashbacks and things like that and I was pretty much sold from the first episode. Shawn the fake psychic has a lot of charm and you just can't help rooting for him. It has some more serious moments but overall never lets itself get too dark and heavy, though there is an episode they do that recreates some famous Hitchcock moments that gets kind of intense at times.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
The Muppet Show (original) - You knew this would be on my list right? The original Muppet show was intended to be mostly for adults. I have always loved the sort of "Saturday Night Live" feel to it. It's definitely the show I go to as a pick me up when I'm feeling down. My favorite episode has always been the Steve Martin one. I'm beyond excited for the new Muppet show coming out this Fall, I love that they're going to be doing it in sort of that faux-documentary style similar to Parks and Rec and the Office. There was a long extended preview released yesterday and I can say it just fueled my excitement even further if that is even possible!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
There you have it. I frequently discuss what we're currently watching and what some of our favorite shows are, but the ones I just listed are the ones I'll watch again and again until I die and would want on my iPad or something if I was on a deserted island (provided I got to have an iPad with me that is). What are your tried and true favorite shows that you'll watch again and again?</div>

I'm all about lists, talking about myself too much and writing basic fluff when other ideas just aren't coming to me, so guess what I'm doing today? You got it, I'm going to be one of the cool kids! <b>The A to Z's of Beth</b></div>
</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<b>Age:</b> 33</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<b>Biggest Fear:</b> Talked about this last week in a similar "about me" list, I fear sudden loud noises, fast moving bugs with many legs and losing my loved ones.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<b>Current Time:</b> 8:15 am</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<b>Drink You Last Had:</b> Water</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<b>Easiest Person to Talk To:</b> Does it count if I actually say my cats? Because I can talk to them and they just listen! </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<b>Favorite Song:</b> I don't think I can pick one! I will just say that I love me some Neko Case, Josh Groban, Decemberists, old school 80's like Journey, 70's stuff like Fleetwood Mac and current stuff like Taylor Swift. There. It's a mishmash in my iTunes for sure!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<b>Grossest Memory:</b> Well, there was the time I came down with a stomach virus right in the middle of rehearsal for our church talent show when I was around 13 and didn't quite make it into the stall in time in the restroom (and there was a stain on the floor for a long time after, even worse right?). There was also the infection I got after my wisdom teeth surgery when I was 16. There were a couple of infections involving piercings in my 20's and even my 30's. Infections are just gross. And I'm with Sara, elements of childbirth are pretty gross too. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<b>Hometown:</b> Minneapolis (well the northeast suburbs anyway!)</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<b>In love with:</b> Well I could be sappy and say my husband and my son. But I think that's a given. So I will instead say I am in love with the place that I live. One of the things I love most about living in Minnesota is that while we might not love everything about all of them, we experience all four seasons and I really do enjoy that!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<b>Jealous of:</b> I will admit to being jealous of the moms I know that have made their situation work out for them to be stay at home moms. I should have planned differently before we had Ollie, but I didn't and so I need to work. It is what it is.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<b>Kindest person you know:</b> I know a lot of kind people actually, I'm pretty lucky to be surrounded by kind hearted people, but if I had to pick right now I'd say Megan and Nora from two birds (miss their blog so much this summer!) are two of the nicest people I've ever met. They would give you the shirt off of their back and practically have in a literal sense for me, I've been the lucky recipient of clothes from them (and Ollie has too!) but I've been even luckier to be a recipient of their friendship. These ladies are seriously the real deal, they're just great people. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<b>Longest relationship:</b> My husband - we've been together as a whole for over 16 years and married for 9 of them. And we were friends for years before we were a couple.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<b>Middle Name:</b> Ann</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<b>Number of siblings:</b> Zero. I'm not a lonely only though! I have written many thoughts on being an only child and the fact that I'm likely raising an only child. I feel like I'm pretty well adjusted and I think he will be as well.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<b>One wish:</b> I wish that I could find a career that was slightly more fulfilling than the one I currently have. I'm working on it though. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<b>Person you last spoke to on the phone:</b> Nate last night telling me he was just leaving his last client for the day and would be getting home a little late.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<b>Question you're always asked:</b> I can think of two right now - I've been asked when I'm going to have another child (polite answer: we're enjoying our time with our son and not worrying about that right now. Less polite answer: Screw you, none of your business.) The other question I get asked a lot is when I tell people I have a blog "What do you blog about?" The short answer to that of course is "well, my life!"</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<b>Reason to smile:</b> Ollie always gives me at least one reason to smile each day - even when he's being naughty he cracks me up, it's hard not to laugh at that kid!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<b>Song you sang last:</b> Fight Song by Rachel Platten was on in the car on my way to work and I've recently discovered I like to belt that one at the top of my lungs. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<b>Time you woke up:</b> 6:00 am. Yep. The life of a working mama.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<b>Underwear color:</b> White with light blue flowers. TMI? Oh well!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<b>Vacation Destination:</b> I love to travel and wish we could do it more often! I love going "up north" in Minnesota to Itasca or Duluth. I'm super excited that Nate and I are planning our anniversary trip next year to...wait for it...Jamaica! Yeah mon!!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<b>Worst Habit:</b> Ugh this is is so gross you guys and people who've known me for years know I struggle with this one - I pick the skin around my fingers. It's so disgusting. I actually quit for a year once - I made it an entire year and then I "fell off the wagon" so to speak. It's a nervous tick, sometimes I don't even know I'm doing it. I hope I haven't grossed you all out, maybe by admitting this I will give another go at stopping!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<b>X-Rays You've Had:</b> Fortunately I've only had mouth x-rays at the dentist and I suppose if we count ultrasounds while pregnant than I had several of those while pregnant with Ollie.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<b>Your Favorite Food:</b> I've talked about this a number of times - cheese. Anything cheese. Yes I love cookies and chocolate and sweets but I'll take cheese before sweets nine times out of ten!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<b>Zodiac Sign:</b> Sagittarius. I've never felt like it really matches me though.<br />
<br />
So there you have it! It's always fun sharing a little more about me! I'd love to know more about you, if you decide to fill this out on your own blog, let me know so I can read along!</div>

Beth (Coffee Until Cocktails)http://www.blogger.com/profile/13966675621394412590noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8502873828055424584.post-82151927107085321112015-07-20T08:43:00.003-05:002015-07-20T08:43:55.970-05:00The news from here<center>
</center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
It's funny. I took Ollie to a friend of mine's house for a playdate over the weekend and we hadn't seen each other for awhile, so naturally she asked what was new and what we'd been up to. And I said "man, I feel like we have been really busy this summer, but I can't figure out with what!" When I list off the things we've been up to, it really doesn't sound like we've been doing much, yet, we've been filling our days pretty well. Anyway, I thought I'd just share a little of what's new here to kind of check in. It's hard to believe we're kind of at the midway point of summer!</center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
<br /></center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
-We've been playing lots of disc golf. We have made a rule for ourselves that every couple of weeks we have to try a new to us course. So far we've tried one new one, ha. There's a course at a park about five minutes from our house so a lot of times we pick that one out of ease!</center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
<br /></center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
-Ollie is starting swimming lessons this week which is both exciting and anxiety inducing for mama. It's not that I'm afraid he won't love it or will have a problem - the boy is a fish, that will be no worry at all. It's the whole timing thing, gotta get dinner on the table, get packed up and head out by a certain time. It'll be a good exercise in being organized and prepared! </center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
<br /></center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
-On Friday I enjoyed a nice day off. I finally had a chance to attend a Social Media Breakfast event, it's a great event sponsored by some marketing firms in Minneapolis, it's all about networking and learning to make social media work better for you while enjoying a little bit of breakfast! I really enjoyed learning more about social media and marketing (and drinking a mimosa!) After that event I enjoyed a pedicure with a good blogger friend of mine, Jen from <a href="http://wonderfullyunkempt.com/" target="_blank">Wonderfully Unkempt</a>. Then I picked up my boy and had a nice afternoon with him!</center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
<br /></center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
-CSA season is in full swing at our house and we're loving it. The addition of a cheese share this year has been the best thing ever. We're just loving having fresh veggies and eggs. I'll be sharing some of our latest eats later this week. </center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
<br /></center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
-I attended a fun event yesterday at a new to me brewery. Laura from <a href="http://www.onegirltwocities.com/" target="_blank">One Girl, Two Cities</a> hosted a "Tweet Up" for some of us active Minneapolis Twitter folks at Insight Brewing. It's a great space and the beer was delicious. I'll be making a return trip soon with Nate because I know he'll love it too and bonus, it really isn't far from our house!</center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
<br /></center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
-Speaking of beer, Nate's been brewing a bit to try to get ready for our annual Oktoberfest. He has a schedule for what he's brewing and when for the rest of the summer. It'll be a little intense, but I'm so excited for what he's rolling out this year! </center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
<br /></center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
-You might remember <a href="http://www.bethietheboo.com/2015/07/crossing-bridge.html" target="_blank">my post about the hypothetical bridge</a> I wanted to cross. Sadly that bridge was closed to me, but I decided what was on the other side maybe wasn't for the best. I am still searching for other bridges to cross though. I'll find the right one.</center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
<br /></center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
-The bridge I want to cross in terms of blog changes is getting closer though! I'd say I'm about halfway across the bridge. I want to do this right so I'm not rushing to get to the other side quite yet. We're very close, Nate's been helping me a ton. I've set a "go live" date of August 1st, so we're just about two weeks from the big reveal. If I feel things are ready sooner we'll roll it out sooner, but that's our goal right now. I promise I won't just sit here and talk non-stop about it, but who are we kidding, I'm kind of antsy pants about it, I just can't wait to share!</center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
<br /></center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
So that's kind of the news from here! Like I said, we're busy, but I feel like it isn't HUGE things keeping us busy. It's just kind of life. We take it as it comes and it certainly hasn't been boring. It's been a pretty decent summer so far. What's new with you?</center>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Today's Thrift Style Thursday theme was chosen by Kristi of Delightfully Kristi - Summer Nights. We were encouraged to create an outfit to wear on summer date nights or girls nights. I have not had either one of those enough this summer, that's what I know! But I came up with a look that I thought would work for either and bonus - Nate said he liked it, so I know it would work well for a date night!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh_SLgHU5UFxI_nyulSxakJbNIWcCWZruGMqaY8UCv5letLYGym1RGYu9QMRQ8kjYbQcW_-Nu3_tEdpI6UEfpLivaaDTcrBWpaeQD7lWkKHuP5nBOiOVH-gKHC9Lv5TOf2ovh94LOKjXIgq/s1600/summernights1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh_SLgHU5UFxI_nyulSxakJbNIWcCWZruGMqaY8UCv5letLYGym1RGYu9QMRQ8kjYbQcW_-Nu3_tEdpI6UEfpLivaaDTcrBWpaeQD7lWkKHuP5nBOiOVH-gKHC9Lv5TOf2ovh94LOKjXIgq/s1600/summernights1.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
I actually thrifted this light weight short sleeved sweater back in May and this is the first time I'm wearing it. This is why I need to keep shopping my own closet! It's really comfy, it's not too warm at all, but adds just enough warmth that if it was a bit cooler after the sun went down or something I'd be comfortable. My first thought was to pair this sweater with my white jeans, kind of the "safe" look. I also had out this skirt though and decided to be bold instead. I really like the result!<br />

<br />
Nate and I shoot for a "date night" out about once a month if we can help it. This month we'll actually be going away for a whole weekend, next weekend is our annual trek up to All Pints North in Duluth. While this look is lovely, I don't think I'll be wearing it to a beer festival!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<center>
<br /></center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
The next "girls" event I see on my calendar is going to try paddleboarding with a bunch of ladies, so I don't think I'll be rocking this look on a girls night either. Might just mean I need to get some more dates on the calendar, both with my husband and with some ladies!</center>
<center style="text-align: left;">

<div style="text-align: left;">
Today I'm linking up with the blog <a href="http://www.initstimeblog.com/" target="_blank">In Its Time</a> for the monthly Circle Linkup. This month's theme is blogger introductions, so I thought it would be a good time to share a little about me and re-introduce myself, especially for any newer readers! If you've just found your way here, welcome! Here is a little more about me!</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">

<div style="text-align: left;">
I've been married for 9 years to my high school sweetheart Nate. We have a 19 month old son named Oliver and two tuxedo cats named Taylor and Pippin. We live in a smallish house in a suburb of Northeast Minneapolis in Minnesota. I adore our city and our state, I would never want to live anywhere else! By day I'm an administrative assistant to the facilities team for a group of medical clinics. </div>

<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
This blog is my creative outlet, it allows me to write, to share about my life, my adventures, things I want to remember. I often tell people that for me, blogging is like creating an online scrapbook. Some of my favorite things to blog about are my adventures in parenthood and also showing how I stay fashionable as a mom - and how to do so on the cheap. I love thrifting and I do a Thrift Style Thursday post every week with a group of fashionable bloggers to show how you can keep up with trends and not break your bank! I also like to blog about places we go in our hometown and things we've had to eat. Who doesn't like to talk about food, amiright? So you will pretty much find a little bit of everything here! My blog name comes from my childhood nickname, Bethie Boo. I am going to be making a major change to that pretty soon though, so stay tuned!</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>

<b>Favorite food</b>: So hard to pick one - I think I'd have to say anything cheese.</div>

<b>Favorite TV show</b>: I'm a hardcore Friends fan from back in the day. Other favorites include It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, The Big Bang Theory, Modern Family, Orange is the New Black and Shameless.</div>

I saw this comic on a friend's Facebook page this morning and I had to share it. It pretty much accurately describes life with a toddler!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjONmRwlcTTyCcYt7cMnQ-pXGz1nKTO0bvf9g6iT0Cgnf0ZujlsM9gLYNqR45DSP_76ykb_WZwenYFlZUxJnLO9aEx5XSEGSWs1SjuxXYlkilM_SaIlDPbmJ9Tmq9iUQ22nSJBK3vvbMPPw/s1600/toddlers.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjONmRwlcTTyCcYt7cMnQ-pXGz1nKTO0bvf9g6iT0Cgnf0ZujlsM9gLYNqR45DSP_76ykb_WZwenYFlZUxJnLO9aEx5XSEGSWs1SjuxXYlkilM_SaIlDPbmJ9Tmq9iUQ22nSJBK3vvbMPPw/s640/toddlers.jpg" width="626" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
We most definitely have a toddler in the house! It's both a blessing and a curse. I have to say though, even if it has it's challenging moments, I really like the toddler stage. I do love babies - there's nothing like a newborn squish - but I think I'm almost better at parenting a toddler. I think a big part of it is we can communicate now. And yes, more often than not, the responses I get from my toddler are a big "NO" but I know he understands me and more and more I'm getting to understand him. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
We've learned we can reason with him a little bit. If he doesn't want to leave the park when we say it's time to go home, we can tell him "five more minutes" to which he says "more minutes" which means he understands that his time is growing short, but he gets to stay a little longer. We count the minutes down to zero for him and then he doesn't protest getting in the stroller or Burley to go home at all.</div>
<br />

<br />
He does have tantrum moments, but we deal with them by either telling him to use his words (Thank you, Daniel Tiger) or sometimes we simply walk away and ignore him and he usually calms down. Other times we just remove him from the situation, if the tantrum is happening at the dinner table, then we leave the table for a minute. He will sometimes do something like bite or hit if he's feeling especially frustrated and those are times we're starting to use a time out. He likes to test his boundaries by doing things like throwing toys down the stairs. If he does that, he doesn't get the toy back for awhile. We're finding by using these methods to combat his behavior, he is slowly understanding what's right and what's wrong.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh1sJYeBiRse1nUHqhIBVQZCW8P5Ue8LIjqZRLnrF-G8F79vHYFQ0yv1dbTH1dbZzAzkxMZmcYsjx32-ICQQ_VTpPw4R32h_q6_cpUY7rNrrAp867lcLVB7NK3B4Qgpx8JhGFF5aq7RvwfU/s640/blogger-image--2078074059.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh1sJYeBiRse1nUHqhIBVQZCW8P5Ue8LIjqZRLnrF-G8F79vHYFQ0yv1dbTH1dbZzAzkxMZmcYsjx32-ICQQ_VTpPw4R32h_q6_cpUY7rNrrAp867lcLVB7NK3B4Qgpx8JhGFF5aq7RvwfU/s640/blogger-image--2078074059.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
And the bottom right corner of that cartoon is right - while he has his toddler fits every now and then, he is unbelievably sweet. I love how he loves. He loves hugs, he will lay his little head on my shoulder and say "Nice". He's learning the "Uggamugga" nose kiss from Daniel Tiger (or well it really is from Mr. Rogers Neighborhood if you remember that from childhood!). He says "I love you" or "I love my mama/dada". He loves to cuddle. Some days he just wants to sit on my lap and sing songs. I think we did that together for almost twenty minutes yesterday while we waited for Nate to get home from work. He just climbed over to me and asked to get on my lap and then just kept saying "song". When he had enough he finally asked to get down and went on his merry way. He loves to sit together and read stories as well. He just seems to really enjoy spending time with Nate and I. I will eat up every moment because I know that someday that won't necessarily be the case! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So anyway, while that cartoon pretty much describes every day life with a toddler, I love every moment. Life is definitely never dull with him around!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
If you're a parent, what stage is your favorite? Babyhood, toddlerhood, school age? Just curious!</div>

It's not that I am afraid to talk about it, I make no secret of the fact that I'm a religious person and all of that, it's just not something that I really talk about outside of my own family much. Today I'm talking religion but not in a preachy way, just more about my own journey a little bit.<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
So here's the thing. I hadn't been to church since our music group wrapped up it's run in April. Early April to be exact. That's kind of a big deal to this Catholic girl who was used to going to church every week - sometimes multiple times a week if I was singing at more than one Mass. I think there were a multitude of reasons for not really going since April. The biggest one was plain and simple - I was lazy. And I think I was tired and burned out and drained from the emotional roller coaster of finishing up things with our music group and so it got easy to just say, well we'll try to go to church as a family this summer sometime. Or I can always go on my own some morning if I want to. But then we'd make plans or decide to do something else on Sunday morning. But, there's been that little voice in the back of my head (darn Catholic guilt) saying "you really should go to church."</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
A couple of things happened in the last week. My favorite priest was recently relocated back to a church that is a little bit closer to home, one of the ones we used to go to with our music group and a church I was considering having us start going to more frequently because there are a lot of young families and a pretty decent music ministry program. I also realized this week that I'm still carrying around some hurt and anger about some of the things that went down between myself and another individual, the reason my mantra for the year became "let it go" in the first place. I am feeling pretty much over it and moved on, but there's a tiny part of me that still needs a little help. It occurred to me that going to church would probably help. I figured out that it's part of me that's been missing - yes I still have a relationship with God, but I haven't been doing anything to foster that. So I talked to Nate about it and while I want to get Ollie exposed to church, at the same time I knew I wouldn't get much out of the Mass if I took him right now, I'd have been kind of consumed with watching him. Nate said, "why don't you go on your own this Sunday and I'll get up and hang out with Ollie at home. We'll figure out the going as a family stuff later, right now you should go for you."</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
So yesterday I went to the early service. It was exactly what I needed. And I swear, it's like the sermon was tailored for me. The priest spoke about how as we go on our journey we need to travel light - and he wasn't just talking about packing a small suitcase. He meant you need to let go of your burdens and your worries, your hurts and bad feelings. Everything he was saying I was like "yes, YES." I left the church feeling lighter and hopefully I'll be able to keep traveling light as I go forward.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
If anything, it made me see that while I'm not perfect and there will be weekends I may not make it to church, I just need to make church a part of my routine again. I think I had come to a point when we were still doing the music group that I was just going through the motions when I was going to church and so I wasn't getting much out of it. So it feels good to go to church to simply go to church. I'm not rushing into anything, but I may even feel ready to join the choir this year instead of next year, but we'll go one step at a time. For now I'm just going to enjoy the peace I feel and not worry about what's next. Travel light. One step at a time.</div>

</center>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
All right you guys. Let's just be totally honest. No shop summer is just not working this year. I've really tried, but I have broken the ban a little bit outside of my Stitch Fix box last month. I think what I've learned from my attempt this year is that what I need is not a full on shopping ban. It's not going to solve my problems when I say I'm no longer on that ban - I'll be right back to my old habits. So instead, I'm looking at this the way they say you should with something like sweets if you're on a diet. Don't cut yourself off completely, do it in moderation. So, instead of being on a no shop summer, I am pretty much saying for here on out I'm trying to be a Smart Shopper. I'm going to really work on sticking to a budget and not just shopping for the sake of shopping. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
One way I have found to be a bit more of a smart shopper is using ThredUp. I've talked about it here a bit before. I sold some stuff to them last month and have another bag on the way to them as we speak. I have definitely cashed out before, but I have found a great way to be a smart shopper is taking the credit I have from them and using it on their site. So I got a great deal on this Old Navy skirt - it was on clearance and with the money I had from what they bought from me, it was pretty much free!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj5bFMyvKSSja_XUnDpT4xCA5TEPeB1bauPik0sMmuIPduR_dfFS3FHUOts-xJbtw2BqLl8EJ62GX17JrDmYUFJFuMplCWkI9jDNsa3QIi5eLyDTFEZj_Iexk5YBxOUKr771vW404YZ3SDs/s1600/thredup1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj5bFMyvKSSja_XUnDpT4xCA5TEPeB1bauPik0sMmuIPduR_dfFS3FHUOts-xJbtw2BqLl8EJ62GX17JrDmYUFJFuMplCWkI9jDNsa3QIi5eLyDTFEZj_Iexk5YBxOUKr771vW404YZ3SDs/s640/thredup1.jpg" width="376" /></a></div>
<br />
I also treated myself to this little purse. It wasn't on sale, but again, I pretty much paid nothing because I had money in my ThredUp account to use! This is a nice little bag, it's definitely smaller than what I've been carrying lately, but I like that it has a crossbody strap and it still fits pretty much all of my stuff. Nate's always on me about my bags being too big and heavy anyway, so maybe this is good for me!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhJutjmN7xB59UT6WtAFDi6ClTjljufvTOWp9TwDQ2dZuuMvXtzsve1YRe5MZwKq03Vns0-QCvf-mP_GOR1dhASMR255n-DclrulkdhgHlpYN6UkIScAAMw5sRqfhiP7q9RA0JLveGslagQ/s1600/thredup2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="524" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhJutjmN7xB59UT6WtAFDi6ClTjljufvTOWp9TwDQ2dZuuMvXtzsve1YRe5MZwKq03Vns0-QCvf-mP_GOR1dhASMR255n-DclrulkdhgHlpYN6UkIScAAMw5sRqfhiP7q9RA0JLveGslagQ/s640/thredup2.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I'm really not disappointed that I "failed" at my shopping ban. And I'm still shopping my closet first and pretty much avoiding going to the thrift stores this summer. I don't plan to shop much, but I feel better giving myself a little bit of a pass in a way. I think just overhauling my whole approach to shopping just makes more sense than saying "I'm going to ban myself from shopping all together" - again, hate tying this to food, but it feels like saying "I"m going on a three day fast" and then eating all the ice cream when I am done. I just fear I'd go overboard when the ban is over, it has happened in the past. I'm not trying to offend anyone else who is either on a shopping ban or has had one work for them before. This is just what I'm discovering about myself. And I want to be completely honest with you all, so that's my truth today! So instead of a No Shop Summer I'm now dubbing this the Summer of Smart Shopping - which hopefully will carry over into fall and winter too!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Well, it's Thrift Style Thursday and the theme this week is super fun - Beach Wear - but I'm going off book for a couple of reasons - I really don't have any thrifted beach wear and also, I'm not really going to the beach anytime soon! Instead I went more for a "this is what I'd wear to a picnic by the water" kind of look today. And oh hello, office selfies. We haven't done this in awhile! Best laid plans on getting pictures elsewhere, so I figured I'd cuddle up to my friend the Shred Bin for the first time in a while. Keeping it real folks!</div>

I was inspired by Robin from <a href="http://franniepantz.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Frannie Pantz </a>to wear my denim vest with a sundress. I haven't done this look in awhile and yes, it does feel a little more 1995 than 2005, but maybe we'll say I'm doing Throwback Thursday for Thrift Style Thursday?<br />

Hey people! Ollie here! I'm taking over my mommy's blog today because I'm a busy toddler with a lot going on and a lot to say! We've been busy lately so I wanted to tell you all about the fun things we've been doing!</center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
<br /></center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
This last weekend was so much fun! Every weekend mommy and daddy take me to this big park where we throw discs. I love to throw discs! I like to say "ready, set, goooo" and then throw the disc! It's fun to watch mommy and daddy throw the discs too. My daddy throws really far. I tell both of them "nice throw" and they seem to really like that. This last weekend we went to a different park though. It had a lot of stairs and hills and I got tired of walking so much and had to ride in my stroller. Daddy had to pull me backwards up the stairs and it was hilarious! I couldn't stop laughing!</center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
<br /></center>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi-AgaeUk_7Flg_12C1RgUhaV5fR5Gl5pW5drvG8x4Nexji-_Ps-nft_ZHRO3DUn9UYXcm1C8IU59kBW1daEYds8yDmwo4HhxXTnxBOEfYYmefleygWvWI7xvRcGS5jH6u63nNbM236BNIT/s1600/19mo1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi-AgaeUk_7Flg_12C1RgUhaV5fR5Gl5pW5drvG8x4Nexji-_Ps-nft_ZHRO3DUn9UYXcm1C8IU59kBW1daEYds8yDmwo4HhxXTnxBOEfYYmefleygWvWI7xvRcGS5jH6u63nNbM236BNIT/s640/19mo1.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<br />
After we were done playing with the discs, we went to a restaurant for lunch. I love going out to eat with mommy and daddy. They always share their food. I sometimes get impatient waiting for the food to come, but mommy always has crackers, so I nibbled on those until my pancake came. Once the pancake came though, it was all about the pancake. I LOVE pancakes!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Saturday afternoon was so fun. I guess it was a holiday called Independence Day. That's a hard word to say. Mommy kept telling me to just say "Merica", so I did. Anyway, we went to my grandma and grandpa's house for a picnic with my Uncle Dave. Grandpa fixed my water table so it no longer leaks and I got to play with it for hours! It was so fun, I loved splashing the water everywhere and when the table started to get empty I would ask for "more" from the hose. We ate hot dogs and beans and my favorite fruit - strawberries. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgz2OtwR8-qpWCs94kHbdAD3TbynwIP7ssQC-jzHsLRGfiOw2HVS_TQnSFPbUtOgX5SY33OH9HrfEqTh9t3WvMwZqUWQnHlCElLiZBxOeqs1LmNX8J9-qs4f7CI5wZxV-a5Z_GSOYD0JhMt/s1600/19mo3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgz2OtwR8-qpWCs94kHbdAD3TbynwIP7ssQC-jzHsLRGfiOw2HVS_TQnSFPbUtOgX5SY33OH9HrfEqTh9t3WvMwZqUWQnHlCElLiZBxOeqs1LmNX8J9-qs4f7CI5wZxV-a5Z_GSOYD0JhMt/s640/19mo3.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<br />
I humored my mom for a picture in the big boy chair before we went home. I was so tired, but I was trying to not let her know that! I didn't want her to make me go straight to bed (but I pretty much passed out when we got home, it's exhausting playing in the water all day!)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh7E0AdpTzea5LodhJSQx_Lt1j94NfOZz3HYuTGbA1y5du9xbXpuIKQbWHGtCxHRdkcWHyZGoCyOrFnz2NboWH5OcDyQrRgSzLECVVehOX8lQ1GQnM9kHHcXdGytqCM7_bRD_VUn3HHVrls/s1600/19mo4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh7E0AdpTzea5LodhJSQx_Lt1j94NfOZz3HYuTGbA1y5du9xbXpuIKQbWHGtCxHRdkcWHyZGoCyOrFnz2NboWH5OcDyQrRgSzLECVVehOX8lQ1GQnM9kHHcXdGytqCM7_bRD_VUn3HHVrls/s640/19mo4.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<br />
Sunday morning we went to Caribou. I love Caribou! Mommy and daddy get coffee and tea and don't share with me, but they do share their croissant with me and I love that! It's so yummy! We sat outside and daddy let me sit in a big boy chair! I had to be cool and wear my hat like daddy too. I love my daddy, I want to be just like him!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgp_DIJ6_B-WGunrB3jRpkWIrLemfoMUH1j6eN3SgAMeUxfvOJh9DV5U9EhIp2h0DWwV96vFzWUMNH1jfmUBreLnWQrwpE6KLhnFPR44jUCym5b7pzoWxGl7Kyf_59X5C8X19rt6PvVDDRa/s1600/19mo5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgp_DIJ6_B-WGunrB3jRpkWIrLemfoMUH1j6eN3SgAMeUxfvOJh9DV5U9EhIp2h0DWwV96vFzWUMNH1jfmUBreLnWQrwpE6KLhnFPR44jUCym5b7pzoWxGl7Kyf_59X5C8X19rt6PvVDDRa/s640/19mo5.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<br />
After my nap we went to my auntie Ali's house. Her house is the best ever. She has a swimming pool! Before we went to her house, mommy took me to Target and bought me a floaty toy. I liked being pushed around in the pool while mommy went "zoooom!" I also love to splash! Water is the best!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEigqbJqeV5yObECvFxD0IvW1RcS7FPlSJvOx64wc_oqsAjTRo17_zt7hCaJGpPTPKbvDpFVbtPbW57_vhreIomwBH-_jWYYebHIYhm4tX3QOK9xgSMkLZ9i5KcNNAeJqV6Zszf_DzjzWxsR/s1600/19mo6.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEigqbJqeV5yObECvFxD0IvW1RcS7FPlSJvOx64wc_oqsAjTRo17_zt7hCaJGpPTPKbvDpFVbtPbW57_vhreIomwBH-_jWYYebHIYhm4tX3QOK9xgSMkLZ9i5KcNNAeJqV6Zszf_DzjzWxsR/s640/19mo6.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<center style="text-align: left;">
<br /></center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
So, you can see I'm a pretty busy boy! I love summer time, I want to be outside all the time! I was sad on Monday, we couldn't go outside because it rained and then because mommy said the air was bad from some fires or something. I didn't see any fire outside! I didn't understand. But mommy and daddy took me to an indoor playground and that was fun too. Yesterday was better and we went to the park! I sure love the park. I sleep so good on the nights we go to the park!</center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
<br /></center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
That's about all that's new with me! I'm going to go watch Daniel Tiger now or maybe play with my trucks and make them crash, I love my trucks! See you later! <i>(Side note from mom - his new favorite goodbye phrase is "see you later" no joke!)</i></center>

<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEju9F3G_W1daKZPulis5WSEreowKSSr2ueihFVS6lyhfC1rpBhEfZkYoDLq4VYYzoZzj6fhIAqOCfwx08FvCIFBml7L_J2FlQey0C1lKGdGA_oEiTFZnhnUGQ702xUGMH4qF_VR3hxb45K5/s1600/bridge.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEju9F3G_W1daKZPulis5WSEreowKSSr2ueihFVS6lyhfC1rpBhEfZkYoDLq4VYYzoZzj6fhIAqOCfwx08FvCIFBml7L_J2FlQey0C1lKGdGA_oEiTFZnhnUGQ702xUGMH4qF_VR3hxb45K5/s400/bridge.jpg" width="307" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
For as long as I can remember, I have had a fascination with bridges. I have always found them to be absolutely beautiful. One of the parks we go walking to at night with Oliver has one of my favorite bridges, one I have always loved since childhood. I snapped a picture of it the other night. It feels sort of symbolic.<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I'm standing at a bridge right now in my life in a couple of different ways. One of them I'm getting very close to crossing - I'm working on some major changes to my blog. We're talking a new look and a new name. Rebranding is scary. Starting over is scary. But I'm so ready for this change and I'm so excited for what's to come. I'm not sure of the timeline quite yet, so it will be business as usual here for now. And I'll still be the same Beth you come here for each day, I'll be pretty much blogging the same things, but the overall look and feel of the blog will be new and improved. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
The other bridge I want to cross I'm still kind of stuck on this side for the moment. I'm ready to cross it, but I have to wait and see if I'm given permission, sort of like the goats in the Three Billy Goats Gruff. And if I can't cross this bridge, I think I'll be looking for another one because the spot I'm standing right now? It's not where I want to be anymore. I want to be on the other side of the river and so if it isn't this bridge that gets me there, I'll keep looking for one that does. Yeah I'm being vague but I bet if you read between the lines maybe you can see what I'm talking about. Again, crossing this bridge will mean some changes too that may also be scary, but I'm just so ready. It's time for a new view. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
It's funny, we use the phrase "we'll cross that bridge when we come to it" about a lot of things in life. And I used to hate that phrase even though I love bridges. I think it just sounded negative like "well, if it comes to this, then we'll deal with it." But now I'm running up to the bridge and saying, let me cross. I want to be on the other side. I know the grass might not be greener on the other side, but I still want to see it. There have been other wonderful bridges I have crossed. I crossed a bridge when I married Nate. I crossed a bridge when we had Ollie. And I've never looked back. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
For now, I can only stand here at the edge and admire it and wait. But at least I'm not afraid of it anymore. As soon as I know I can, I'm crossing over. I can't wait to see what's on the other side.<br />
<br />

I started growing out my hair in January and it's been quite a process, especially given that I've started from a very short, spiky pixie. It's finally growing into a nice bob and I have a vision for my hair and what I want it to look like. I'm growing the bangs now and then I'll kind of have this angled, stacked bob. But, getting to this point has been a challenge - and that was made more difficult by the fact that I've still been going to basically a "cheap" hair spot for my maintenance cuts.<br />
<br />
About four years ago, right before I started this blog in fact, I broke up with the salon. I had gone to several different stylists over the years. The one I was with four years ago was a great salon super close to my house. She understood short hair really well, she was young and I liked her a lot, but her prices kept skyrocketing every time she passed another skill test. I would have even paid her high prices, but the other problem was, she was NEVER on time for an appointment. I was have a 5:30 appointment after work and she wouldn't even bring me back sometimes until 6:15 or 6:20. She always had excuses. So I decided to stop going to her. I found another salon that had lower prices and found a great gal who also did well with short hair and she was on time - score! I would always make my next appointment before I left as she had limited hours and I remember the last time I saw her we decided at my next appointment I'd do both a cut and a color. Then I wrote the time down on two different calendars on two different days and lost my reminder card, so the week of the appointment I called the salon to clarify. The person who answered the phone sounded slightly embarrassed and said "Oh so and so doesn't actually work here anymore. She went somewhere more corporate." Um what? I made an appointment with someone else since I needed the haircut desperately, but I decided with how short my hair was and how frequently I needed trims that it was just time to go to a cheap walk in type place. So I did and never looked back. Until now.<br />
<br />
Lately I just feel that the walk in type places are just not, excuse the pun, cutting it. And for reasons that I won't get into right this moment, I just really wanted a good haircut. I had met an awesome stylist through a friend at a party last summer and had been meaning to go see her for quite sometime. After talking to my friend this week I decided it was time to take the plunge. I went in on Friday and OH EM GEE. I have missed the salon experience so much! The personalized treatment, the massage when they wash your hair. It was just so needed, it felt amazing and my stylist just gets me. She said my hair should likely look pretty much exactly how I want it in about four months. She talked me through what to do to style it on my own - and so far I've been successful! So I'm pretty much sold. I'm a salon girl again. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi0RjukcXPpoowBn6-vwDhjmMSdRWW08_fbAvkEwG8hd_W5r6zYFDvuQjIWau8MKDflcP1mIh_SG0fHLwShHBrZ3WVjthd9_MS6FQ9AwbBsStdiy4JbresIJHcsyh_fL_RMfOofU6Q98bLW/s640/blogger-image-2087349381.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi0RjukcXPpoowBn6-vwDhjmMSdRWW08_fbAvkEwG8hd_W5r6zYFDvuQjIWau8MKDflcP1mIh_SG0fHLwShHBrZ3WVjthd9_MS6FQ9AwbBsStdiy4JbresIJHcsyh_fL_RMfOofU6Q98bLW/s640/blogger-image-2087349381.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I'm trying to live a more budget friendly life, but this is something I feel is worth making room in the budget for. There is something about a good haircut that gives you confidence and makes you feel good. As Tom and Donna say in Parks and Recreation, "Sometimes you gotta treat yo'self." This is my treat. I'm already looking forward to my next appointment!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
What do you do to treat yourself?</div>

So here is a Things I Am Grateful For Friday post!<div>
<br /></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
We had a huge hail storm on Monday. But I'm grateful that our plants seemed to have survived, my flowers took a little hit, but all of our tomato plants are fine and thriving and our herbs have perked right back up again. Nate's new car did get a little dinged, but we have coverage for that with the lease so hopefully that will protect us if it comes to that.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
We had a rare Sunday night bonfire last weekend. Normally we try to do our fires on Fridays or Saturdays because it feels like more of a weekend treat, but we decided to close out our weekend with one instead. And it was peaceful and wonderful. I love nothing more than sitting outside with Nate and just relaxing together.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I found four style challenges on Instagram this month. Pinned It Spinned It is back and there are several others I'm following as well. I love getting inspiration this way and I'm excited to see what I can do with my closet this month!</div>

This little munchkin has been giving me a run for my money this week, especially at dinner time, seems he's decided that dinner is his least favorite meal of the day. He's definitely starting to show his toddlerness at times, but these smiles make up for those moments ten fold. And our bedtime routine is one of my favorite times of the day, we read stories and then he sweetly asks for a "song" and then we sing while we cuddle. I'm grateful for all of these moments - the sweet ones and the struggles, because I know these days will pass too quickly, so I am trying to eat them all up as much as I can.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
And finally I'm grateful for a day off today at the last minute. I sent Ollie to my parents for the morning so I can get a few things done at home and then I'm going to bring him home for his nap and then when he gets up I'll get some extra time with him to play and be together and I'm quite grateful for that as well!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I hope everyone has a great weekend - be safe and have fun if you're celebrating the July 4th holiday!!</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Megan of Traverse suggested our Thrift Style Thursday theme this week to be America the Beautiful in honor of the July 4th holiday (or Canadian Pride for our Canada ladies!) so it was pretty much a given to me that my outfit would be red, white and blue and have an Americana feel to it!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEidkjjy5dg0QYMH6Mo23Rzxrp6yKeGowWcWTdwhI8xvR-Nye88hittz93ZJo7iS0X-TDT8zxQ5tE9ndm_xnbkk7-tWKiNN8kGWIABep5VJRjTmxAao_CnZag7ZBxdTm9twkkz_nKBmUD1FV/s1600/redwhiteandblue2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEidkjjy5dg0QYMH6Mo23Rzxrp6yKeGowWcWTdwhI8xvR-Nye88hittz93ZJo7iS0X-TDT8zxQ5tE9ndm_xnbkk7-tWKiNN8kGWIABep5VJRjTmxAao_CnZag7ZBxdTm9twkkz_nKBmUD1FV/s1600/redwhiteandblue2.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
I knew right away I'd be wearing this dress I thrifted a few years ago. It's been a favorite of mine for awhile now, Nate always compliments me when I wear it! I even managed to wear this one when I was pregnant too, so it's a pretty great dress all around! I decided to pair it with this fun top my sweet Instagram buddy sent me, I thought it matched pretty well! And I'm not real "Stars and Stripes" crazy or into a lot of patriotic flag wear for the July 4th holiday, so this type of look is a little more appealing to me. And then I finished it out with my favorite Stella and Dot bag, because of there was ever a great bag for an Americana themed outfit, this bag would be it!<br />
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
We keep things pretty low key for the 4th of July, especially when it falls on a weekend like this. I don't even get a day off sadly, though I may end up taking a half day on Friday. On the actual holiday I think we'll go disc golf in the morning like we would any other weekend and then after Oliver's nap in the afternoon we'll be going to my parents for a picnic. I'm doubting Ollie will make it to fireworks again this year, but you never know.</div>

<br /></center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
And while this outfit is definitely fun and festive, I'm pretty sure on the actual 4th of July I'll be kicking back in denim shorts and a white top or something! What will you do to celebrate the 4th of July? And will you be wearing red white and blue? Don't forget to check out the other Thrift Style Thursday gals at their blogs below and be sure to visit new member<a href="http://nouveaunorthwesterners.com/" target="_blank"> Alison's</a> blog too!</center>

Can you believe it's July already? How is that possible?? Anyway, it's time for my favorite link up of the month, Currently with <a href="http://www.anneinresidence.com/" target="_blank">Anne</a> and <a href="http://www.goldandbloom.com/blog/" target="_blank">Jenna</a>! Here are some of the things currently going on!</center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
<br /></center>
<center style="text-align: center;">
<b>--Currently I Am--</b></center>
<center>
<br /></center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
<b>Craving</b> - Ice cream. I haven't had a good old fashioned ice cream cone in ages. We don't do a lot of sweet treats at our house these days, but maybe I'll talk Nate into a trip to one of my favorite ice cream places this weekend (Izzy's for you locals). They even have dairy free options for my kiddo!</center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
<br /></center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
<b>Grilling</b> - Last night Nate made us a steak. We had our grilled pizza last Friday too. This weekend I think we'll be grilling up some hamburgers and hot dogs at my parents house for the 4th of July. I'm hoping that there will be some good corn on the cob soon so we can grill that too! I love grilled corn!</center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
<br /></center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
<b>Listening</b> - I have such music fatigue right now, I'm tired of the same stuff in rotation! I've been pulling up Spotify a lot lately and streaming some different things. I'm really digging ZZ Ward right now, she has kind of a bluesy/folky sound to her voice and I really like it. At home we've been streaming a lot of instrumental jazz in the evenings while we have dinner and that's been kind of nice too, light background music.</center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
<br /></center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
<b>Planning </b>- Even though it's months away we're actually already planning for our yearly Oktoberfest celebration. Nate finally made a list of beers he wants to brew and a rough plan of when they need to be brewed by in order to be ready. So we'll be doing a lot of homebrewing very soon here I think! I'm also planning a slight change in my living room at home to create more of a separate play space for Oliver and I'm really excited about my ideas. And finally we have narrowed down three ideas for our big anniversary trip and I'm going to get in touch with my local AAA office to start getting that planned out as well. Exciting things coming up!</center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
<br /></center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
<b>Decorating</b> - Not much of anything right now! Though when I get into my living room re-design I'll be doing a little bit of decorating there. I also have a bunch of things to hang up in Oliver's room that I'm hoping to just get done this weekend, so maybe that counts too? </center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
<br /></center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
So there you go! Not the most exciting Currently post ever, but that's what I'm up to right now! Stop by <a href="http://anneinresidence.com/" target="_blank">Anne</a> and <a href="http://www.goldandbloom.com/blog/" target="_blank">Jenna'</a>s blogs to check out what other bloggers are currently up to or to add your own link!</center>

I haven't been keeping up real well with the weekly prompts from the Let Your Blog Shine group I'm part of, but the prompt from last week caught my eye and felt kind of timely. 30 Interesting Facts About Me. I don't know if I'll be able to come up with 30, but I'll do my best. I thought this would be a good topic given that I've met some new people in the last few months here and have some newer readers - now you can get to know a little more about me. Or you might be cringing at the idea of reading another list post and if that's the case, I seriously apologize. I will do my best to keep it interesting! Here we go!</center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
<br /></center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
<strike>30 </strike>20 Facts About Me:</center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
<br /></center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
1. Other than giving birth to my son, I have never been hospitalized for anything, I have never had stitches or broken any bones.</center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
2. Last year I developed an allergy to avocado. I actually don't miss guacamole too much, but I do miss avocado in sushi rolls!</center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
3. My college degree is in communication studies, but I have a minor in music, vocal performance and I almost majored in music but gave up due to never having learned piano.</center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
4. I worked for two years as a youth minister following my college graduation.</center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
5. I had a part time job when I was a senior in college as a photographer/sales person at a Target portrait studio. I was horrible at it and I still feel bad for any families that have photos I took of them!</center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
6. When I was little I used to say I'd be a librarian when I grew up, followed by a nurse and then for years I thought I'd be a teacher.</center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
7. My coffee habit didn't start until after I got married for the most part. I started drinking lattes shortly before that, but regular coffee is still a newer thing to me.</center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
8. I also have only truly liked beer for about seven years or so. It wasn't until Nate started homebrewing that I started finding I actually liked it.</center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
9. I have never read any of the Harry Potter books, I have still not managed to even finish the first one. But I have seen all of the movies at this point. I know. Blasphemy.</center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
10. I've been fortunate enough to go to Disney World four times in my life so far. I look forward to going with Nate and Ollie someday, maybe by the time Ollie's around five years old.</center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
11. I played the flute for nine years between high school and college. I don't know I'd still remember how at this point though! Nate played trombone in high school but then became a drummer. Ollie will have lots to choose from if he wants to learn an instrument!</center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
12. I graduated high school 15 years ago this year. </center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
13. When I was a little girl I did not realize that pancakes and oatmeal were breakfast foods because we would frequently have them for dinners, especially on Fridays during Lent.</center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
14. Also on the food front, I was a very picky eater when I was young, I had a lot of issues with textures. I didn't like things like salad even until I was in college - now it's one of my favorite things to eat!</center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
15. I love the smell of chemical things - oil, gasoline, the smell of my dad's printing shop. Yep. I'm a weirdo!</center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
16. I have only traveled out of the United States to go to the Bahamas and Canada. Someday I'd like to add to that list!</center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
17. I am not a sporty person. I did play soccer for two summers though when I was in middle school. I was not very good, ha!</center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
18. I am an introvert. This is surprising to a lot of people because I can be very outgoing and I am comfortable speaking in front of people and such, but that's a common misconception. You can be outgoing and even like being around people, but still be introverted. I need my own time to re-energize.</center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
19. I don't like actual cherries, but I love all the cherry flavored things - especially Jolly Ranchers. Give me all the Cherry Jolly Ranchers!</center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
20. I'm stopping at 20. I don't think I'm interesting enough for 30 things!!</center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
<br /></center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
So there you go. 20 things about me - hopefully you learned something new! Or maybe I just scared you all off because you're thinking, this girl is kind of weird. But if you're still reading, then thank you! Feel free to share something interesting about you that I might not know in the comments!</center>

If you follow me on Instagram (and if you aren't you should! @BethieTheBoo) you may have noticed that I have done a couple of style challenges this month. I love following along with these, especially ones that are a little more general, because they help provide me inspiration to help with mixing my closet a little better. One of the challenges I did was a Dress Week Challenge and the other was a cute one that was themed after Rolling Stones songs - Rad Moves Like Jagger. I thought I'd share some of my favorites from the month today.</center>

Lots of color this month, lots of skirts and dresses, and you can see I am pretty much still in love with this Urban Expressions bag from my April Stitch Fix. I carry a different bag for a few days here or there and I keep coming back to this one! I haven't had a crush this hard core on one of my clothing items in quite some time! Which look is your favorite?</center>

Today I thought I'd make you all jealous and share some of the awesome food we've been enjoying as of late because CSA season has started in our house and that means tons of fresh veggies and awesomeness! Here are a few favorites of the last couple of weeks!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Nate made us an Ecuadorian style meal for date night this week. He marinated a pork chop in some spices. Then he took some of the vitamin greens, kale and spinach that we received from our CSA and turned that into a pureed green sauce mixed up with garlic scapes, onion and jalapeno. He also added in some turnip that also was in our CSA. On the side he gave us a little bit of rice with a fried egg on top, because most Ecuadorian meals include an egg and we are getting fresh eggs with our CSA this year too. This meal was AMAZING. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgvj3o_042g0Acs4HBSIcKXQPKQedhnw32z5x2gcbn7n8tyIhuMEFflTLNboiJIfrLIkeNJorS0lrkF_99tThwGUFGBL8HTrMaV851jovzL0voXDyyRJQYBOowhkF-nc8B02uGykje0q8_5/s1600/foodfriday1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgvj3o_042g0Acs4HBSIcKXQPKQedhnw32z5x2gcbn7n8tyIhuMEFflTLNboiJIfrLIkeNJorS0lrkF_99tThwGUFGBL8HTrMaV851jovzL0voXDyyRJQYBOowhkF-nc8B02uGykje0q8_5/s640/foodfriday1.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Next up is a meal so simple it was actually made by yours truly! I can't take credit for the idea, the recipe came from our CSA's blog. But it seriously so simple. We are getting a cheese share with the CSA this year and one of the cheeses was a soft cheese called Quark - it's a similar texture to a cream cheese and is even sweet like one. They suggested putting the quark on a baguette and then topping with a slice of radish (also in our CSA box). My in-laws tried the recipe and said they used Wheat Thins instead of bread, so we decided to do that too. So there you have it - a little cheese spread on the cracker, top it with a radish slice and garnish with just a little salt and pepper. OMG. To die for. I realize you may not have access to quark - cream cheese would probably be a fine substitute or even a soft goat cheese spread would probably be tasty too! We added a little leftover fried steak for some extra protein, but I seriously could have been satisfied with these little cracker treats all on their own!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgPDtnlfLSox9hqEXrlni0aUCyX_YYZIez0kwvrwt2WMwnmOMkuiZMFNfqVdr4whN-8VmBm4MF2V7tgKzBS7JVGwlRjFgWIA3fLxUfolLL9_FFfDuZY106jldarwVRzhB4x7D_Y-upeITDO/s1600/foodfriday2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgPDtnlfLSox9hqEXrlni0aUCyX_YYZIez0kwvrwt2WMwnmOMkuiZMFNfqVdr4whN-8VmBm4MF2V7tgKzBS7JVGwlRjFgWIA3fLxUfolLL9_FFfDuZY106jldarwVRzhB4x7D_Y-upeITDO/s640/foodfriday2.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
And last up pizza. I know I talk about how we make our own pizza here on the blog a lot. This last one however was extra awesome, because we topped it with our own homegrown basil and Nate actually grilled it! It came out with the crispest, most delicious crust ever! We're having another one for dinner tonight and I can't wait! Until we make it to one of the pizza farms, doing it up at home will definitely work for now!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br /></center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
So there you have it! Did I make you hungry? Or jealous? What are some of your favorite foods in the summer? I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!</center>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Today's Thrift Style Thursday theme was chosen by yours truly - inspired by the official Summer Solstice last weekend I chose a theme of "Sunshine" - any sunny, bright look that channels summer days! I originally thought I'd go for more of an orange hued look for today, but then I saw this shirt in my drawer and I was like, oh this is the one. If there was every a sunnier feeling shirt, I wouldn't know!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi2UytSo1Yt0qfMJGt82JDIJ6NhCsDTxs75nnmXjJICIEFd6m9TayMuqmQYvT80VF7M8yvk5VJvuExR98CKodx8FNlMgwZOW9vKdauZgww3x2aHmoqFM8gFDaAujWp3diEPiBHqYCHMDQoy/s1600/sun1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi2UytSo1Yt0qfMJGt82JDIJ6NhCsDTxs75nnmXjJICIEFd6m9TayMuqmQYvT80VF7M8yvk5VJvuExR98CKodx8FNlMgwZOW9vKdauZgww3x2aHmoqFM8gFDaAujWp3diEPiBHqYCHMDQoy/s1600/sun1.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
Also today is one of those awesome days where the stars aligned and every item I'm wearing was either thrifted or gifted! My wardrobe is more and more thrifted things these days, but it's still not often that every last thing I'm wearing is completely thrifted! Well ok, my Fitbit was clearly not thrifted, but it's also not all that fashionable, so we won't count that!<br />

I just love how all of this came together today, it just might be my favorite Thrift Style Thursday look of late! I might be biased because it was my theme though! But seriously, the yellows and gold are just all playing so nice together. I was even going to carry my favorite Stitch Fix bag (which wouldn't have been thrifted) to bring in some orange tones, but my favorite Stella and Dot bag tends to look either gold or silver and today it looks more gold and I think matches pretty well! <br />

But someone else at our house decided to participate and wear some orange today, so I decided to take his picture too! #ToddlerStyle<br />

And guess what? His whole outfit is thrifted too. This entire outfit came from Once Upon a Child, courtesy of Grandma. He's still quite the ham when the camera comes out, he knows how to say "Cheese" now. Love my cutie.<br />

Both of my look and Ollie's look just make me smile and feel happy and that's what I think today's theme should be all about!
